Costume:
the costume used in this film are clothing that where worn in the 90's around poorer areas such as south central L.A. they would wear more baggy clothing and commonly worn shoes such as timberland boots and these type of clothing was worn by all people around the ages of the main stars ,roughly 20 years or above, showing how heavily influenced they were by Hip Hop culture.

Lighting:
The lighting in the film is mostly natural lighting and most of the scenes where film outside and during the night the had used the street lamb or if that didn't work they would have used studio lamp with a filament bulb instead of an LED.

Actors:
The 4 main actors in this film are roughly 20 years of age or above, their speech is fairly informal due to there upbringing in these poor areas and to emphasis on the appearance of this 'thuggish' character they have haircuts which in the late 80's and  90's were very popular among young people of African American descent. The characters act mischievous and ultimately are seen to be antisocial as they are caught robbing records from a record store and armed robbery in stores for the money in tills. Then there is some of the less important actor like the man speaking to 'Q' about his name, he seem to be fairly formal and wears a suit plus he doesn't have a hair cut that implies that he is a hoodlum this connotes that he is a maybe a elder in the community that is trying to get push the younger to a mature adulthood or try to show them an alternative to be just a thug.

Props:
There are multiple props used in the film from records, ladders. boom boxes and tapes to guns, alcohol and money. these props are used to show what the film is about as Q and Bishop are the protagonist and antagonist these props all link to them the musical prop like the turn tables, records and headphones are all link'd to Q and the guns and money lead to Bishop.

Setting:
This trailer has been filmed in several areas of Harlem mostly out side but it has also been filmed from the inside of shop the back alleys. in the trailer most of the filming was done at Q's house while he is practicing his DJ skills and this show that the Disc Jockey side of the film is a primary part of the film and Q's house will be seen a lot through out the movie.

To conclude this film is a Crime drama Film as it has all the components of crime which is shown by antisocial behavior and is a Drama because of the intensity of the film.

Costumes:
In the trailer the actor wear traditional Pakistani clothing this is usually when the four people are together in a group however when the group is apart some of the actors wear western clothing

Lighting:
the lighting in the film is mostly natural and indoor incandescent . the lighting doesn't show high contrast shadows in the trailer instead they have used soft lighting and some scenes have low key lighting.

Actors:
There are 5 main character Omar, Waj, Barry, Faisal and Hassan, Faisal is only relevant to the film up until half way when he dies- Hassan then takes his place in the '4 Lions'. the 5 character are British born Muslim and this is evident due to the accent they project through out the film and how fluently they speak English however are deeply in-touch with their roots because they also speak Urdu in the film which is a language that originates from Pakistan.

Props:
the props used in the film vary from flags carpet boxes clothing bombs bags animals and guns and many more are used and are all used to turn a bad, feared stereotype into something amusing that people ultimately find stupid and fearless from.

Setting:
the main setting shown in the trailer is the recording room where the terrorist videos are made other film recording was done in either outer doors,cars or the in shops.

To conclude this film is considered a comedy film due to the stupidity and the behaviour in the film which amuses people because of the extreme stupidity.

Costume: The costume in this sequence is all casual clothing (everyday wear) other then the scene of the male protagonist in a foil sheet while being brought done from the 'Hollywood' sign.

Lighting: The trailer had mostly natural lighting some soft filler or reflectors may have been used in the scene to make the actors more attractive and to emphasis the focus on them.

Actors: In the trailer there are several characters however due to it being a rom-com there are two protagonists in the film this is evident due to the camera focus on them and the constant dialogue be projected by them only. the film introduces them together as a couple as they both have conversation on the phone which match however the are speaking to different spouses ( although speaking to different people their conversation makes sense and this foretells what could/ would happen in further in to the film.

Props: The main prop used in the trailer is the bed and this is because the film is based around casual sex and the bed would connote this. they also use things in the background such as T.V or things they are in contact with but are unnoticed such as chairs. tables or benches.

Settings: there are several setting in the film for one in the bedroom and again this conveys sex. they also have scene in public parks and cafés.

the reason this is clearly a romantic- comedy is due to the clumsiness and the sarcastic/ rude comment made to each other. also the reason that the two protagonists in the film are male and female. and small remark in the film for example on the bench when the tow men speak about women the man talks about how women can't separate feelings from sex.

Distinctive Still Image Analysis

Costume:
The costume used in this image is a very monotone brown, brown connotes simplicity and to emphasis this they have also used the same monotone brown as a background as they have used on his clothes, this could reflect his personality as humble. The Actor Tony Jaa is topless to show he is a fighter and is clearly displayed by his muscular, agile physique the white hand wrap/rope also show this- shows that he is a rope show he is a Muay Thai fighter.

Lighting:
This lighting in the image is a focused soft light shun in the center to show the audience that the man in the image is the main attraction so all the focus is on him and to ensure all focus is on him there is nothing else in the background to focus on.

Actor:
The person in the picture is a action actor named Tony Jaa. Tony has no facially expression although he's in the middle of an attack this could imply that he's there for one reason and nothing else but that reason matters to him because that's all he thinks about or that he is isolated and due to the lack of friendly contact he doesn't. this gives an in-site to the story line.

Make-Up:
no makeup have been applied if anything has been applied too him as make up is water on his head to create and appearance that he has been sweating

Props:
props that can be seen are the rope hand wraps and this is the only white colored thing the image the rest of the mis-en-scene brown and this could show that it is a primary object in the film and that this prop maybe see a lot throughout the film.

Setting:
the background is brown background which connotes nature and this could mean that the actor when training in the film hasn't got privileges and the for has to turn to nature to benefit himself.

COLOUR:
The picture is a monochrome image and the majority of the colour on the poster is black which can connote dark, eerie or dangerous feeling also monochrome is usually shown as past tense so this could show that he has had trouble in his past. The text is the complete opposite white which connotes purity and cleanliness.

I don't purchase newspapers however I consume my share of the news by looking at it on the internet and/or mobile apps or as my sisters get on the train to Central London daily for their job they usually bring the newspaper home. When I do read the newspaper it's almost always the metro as they are free and easy to pick up however i don't read the paper unless I find something interesting, for me it's usually a big issue at that time or it's about Hip Hop for example a recent story is of rapper D.M.C of RUN D.M.C criticized Jay Z's latest album 'Holy Grail'.

Magazines
The magazine that I read is XXL which is a mag about Rap and Hip Hop recently and what mix-tapes are coming out etc. When I Get the magazine I read the whole thing as it's about a mag about something I specifically enjoy instead of one page.

Television
I sometimes watch television when I get home from school if i don't have a lot of work but if I do then i get it done or most of it then it come down and eat dinner and if my parents aren't watching anything then i would something I want ,I'd watch most of my programs in the evening. Through out the week I'd watch roughly 18 hours of T.V. The genre of the programs I watch are usually Sit-Com like 'The Big Bang Theory' or 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' and my family is usually watching with me.

Radio
The only time I listen to the radio is in my sisters car stations that I'd usually listen to are kiss or choice FM. in a week I'd listen to radio probably for an hour and a half and its usually at night also as I can't drive I listen to it with my sister.

Mobile
I'm constantly on my phone due to socialising apps and my music i often find out about news linking to music through my phone because of the socialising apps (Facebook News feed).

Friday AS analysis

Cinematography:
The target of this trailer was to show the audience it type of genre 'stoner comedy'. so the producers have decided to use short 1-4 second clips to show the funny areas of the film to amuse people and to create a idea of what the whole films about also one of the shots used for example the first shot of actor 'O'shea Jackson' opening the door is a zoom in shot to give a slight feeling of a comic or the start of a cartoon. However, most of the shot used in the trailer is still medium close up angle. To show this film is directed to men more than women the writer Ice Cube has used women as a sex icon in the film this is shown by how he show women running and watering the garden in slow motion whilst being recorded in a panning angle to show how men follow beautiful women with there eyes.

Editing:
the director F. Gary Gray has chosen to edit the clips down to roughly one or four seconds so that he can pack enough to engage the viewer. The pace of the trailer appears to speed up towards the end to show the audience the intensity that is created through the story and again wanting the viewer to be excited about it and wonder what happen which is the enigma of the film.

Sound:
The sound track used in this is slow hip hop which was popular at the time in the 90's so writer Ice Cube and DJ pooh knew that most of the american population of African Americans and Mexican was a part of this culture so the had directed that at them and also to stoners as they enjoy relaxing slow music during there 'Trip'. Dialogue in the film was colloquial so that regular people could related to it  and also has explicit language  to emphasis on the idea of relating to people in the poorer areas of america like South Central, Compton, Brooklyn.

Mise en Scene;
they have used a stereo type of lower class black males for the costume as they show the men sagging there pants and wearing baggy T-shirts with the caps backwards again just to relate with the lower class and possibly the middle class american. light may have been natural with the manipulation of the camera settings but when shooting on the dark umbrella lamps or street lamp may have been utilised to created a clearer shot and give it a realistic appearence. props used in the film range from what appears to be marijuana to guns.

Zaid's AS Media Blog

The reason I've decided to choose Media A level is while doing the subject as a G.C.S.E's in year 10, I came to enjoy the subject a lot although there was a lot of essays in the course work. I enjoy listening to music a lot and thought that I could incorporate this in the work that I produce in the future also as I've done a G.C.S.E in photography and doing so as an A Level and hopefully I can use what I have learnt about composition and lighting in my photography work to provide better Media course work.

I know that doing Media A level will help me learn new skills that I can transfer in to my other lessons rather than only in Media and hopefully improve my English grammar in writing so that I am able to transfer this skill in to other course work and exams.
