E4 is a digital channel based in the UK originally launched as a pay-TV companion to Channel 4 on 18 January 2001 as a pay - TV channel. It provides many american sit-coms such as 'How I met your Mother','The Big Bang Theory' these are examples of big successful U.S TV shows that the british audience watch, they also show some british programmes like 'Misfits' and 'Phoneshop' which are also tv programmes of a comedic genre. These shows are aimed at people between the ages of 15-35 year old. Programmes provided by the channel aren't always a comedy, some of the shows like 'Made in Chelsea' this is a reality tv programmes. E4 became available on freeview after May 2005 and became free to air on BSkyB because of a long term contract on 6th May 2008 along with a sister channel 'More4'.




BBC three is a channel which is apart of the BBC, broadcasting via Digital cable,terrestrial,IPTV and satellite, similarly to E4 have a target age range of 16-35 year old therefore the channel only airs their programmes between timings of 19:00 PM - 05:00 AM this is so it can remain as a terrestrial channel. They aim to provide a purpose of innovative content to a young audience therefore they provide unique reality shows such as 'snow,sex and suspicious parents'. Other shows they provide to us unlike E4 is live/pre-recorded comedy shows like 'Russell Howard's Good news'.unlike E4 this channel provide chat shows for example 'Backchat with Jack Whitehall and His Dad'.
